Free Windows Software Alternatives

I’ve guest blogged at Quick Online Tips, a technology blog which posts about blogging tips, Web 2.0, and computer software. You can read the article over here. It lists free software replacements for Windows built in software, such as Movie Maker and Notepad.

Since this is a mainly empty post, I’d also like to ask readers for any feedback or requests. I’d appreciate any feedback in the comments section of this post below.

  1. Hi Jason,

I came across your article today on Quick Online Tips. I’d like to quickly let you know about a freeware alternative to remote desktop: Mikogo – the free online meeting tool http://www.mikogo.com
I wanted to inform you about Mikogo personally, as I hope you might have a moment to check out the website and consider Mikogo for a review on Third Error.
Mikogo is a free desktop sharing tool that allows you to share any screen content in real time with up to 10 other people. Ideal for online meetings and group Web collaboration. It also includes remote keyboard and mouse control making it a great option for remote tech support. Other features include switch presenter, application selection and sharing, file transfer, Skype Extra, 256bit AES encryption, unique 9-digit ID, and more…

It is very easy to get started with no configurations required. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like more info.

    Regards,
    Andrew

Andrew: Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll be sure to look at Mikogo.

  3. Thanks Jason. Feel free to check out the website and take Mikogo for a test drive. FYI, we’re working on the next version which will include several new features – so big things happening for Mikogo.
You’re welcome to contact me at andrew(at)mikogo.com if you have any questions.

    Regards,
    Andrew
