Using Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper, it’s even easier to hide unwanted webpage elements, including images and “blocks” where advertisements used to be. This tutorial will show you basic usage of Element Hiding Helper on CNN.com. It assumes you have already installed the Element Hiding Helper.
When you click on the little arrow next to the Adblock Plus stop sign, you should see an entry called Select element to hide. Click it.
Generally, hover your mouse over the element you want to hide. For better results, make sure you hit W a couple times to make your selection larger, in case you did not select the top level element. A help dialog appears in the top left corner showing the keyboard buttons to alter your selection. When you’re satisfied, left click.
A window will popup asking you to further refine your selection. Make sure the Preview checkbox is checked (why this isn’t the default, is beyond me – this ensures you’re hiding the element you want to hide, and not other things).
You can check the boxes on the right pane in order to further add more specifications to your filter – experiment with them. When you’re done, hit Add filter rule. That’s it!

Great, been looking to do this for awhile via my own filters. Thanks for making it easy. Farewell Google Chrome! I hated being pestered by your ads, now I’ll never see your lousy ads again.
